Weekend Workshop in Barcelona
18th – 20th July 2025
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is a practical manual for embodied wisdom that is as relevant today as it was 2000 years ago.
Learning the sutras in the same way they were first taught by Shruti Parampara, call-and-response chanting, is a dynamic and transformational experience of spiritual and philosophical traditions.

Om: The Hymn of the Yogi
Introduction to Sanskrit Chanting
Chanting the ancient sound of Om, we awaken to the mystical beauty of Sanskrit and hum with the sounds of the sages.
The Yoga Sutras teach us that Om is Iśvara,
Om is the seed of all knowledge,
is the pathway to union with the divine. In this introductory class we’ll explore the sounds and vibrations of the Sanskrit language that are alive and complete within the sound of Om.

Yoga is Transcendence
Introduction to Chapter One: The Samadhi Pada
We hear that the word yoga means to yoke, to join the individual self with the universal being. But yoga also means Samadhi, to transcend restrictions and limitations and merge with the highest wisdom. We will participate in Sanskrit call-and-response chanting to uncover the path to samadhi and the two-fold method of practice and non-attachment.

Yoga is Complete and Total Practice
Introduction to Chapter Two: Sādhana Pada
Patanjali introduces a practical yoga technique he calls Kriya Yoga. This is a three-fold path to engage body, mind, and soul in pursuit and attainment of embodied illumination. We will participate in Sanskrit call-and-response chanting of these practical techniques and uncover the afflictions that prevent discovery of our true nature.
