Let's review some basic ancient teachings of yoga, its various definitions and how to apply them in a western contemporary setting.
Santiago began his yoga journey in 2001 while visiting a friend in Amsterdam. After his first Ashtanga class with Katiza Ivulic, there was no turning back.
He holds a 200-hour diploma from Yoga Union and completed a 200-hour teacher training with John Scott Yoga, whom he has assisted at various international workshops. Since 2011, Santiago has been teaching daily at his own school in Barcelona.
He currently studies philosophy regularly with scholars from Mysore, Sanskrit with Diego Manzi, and Sutra chanting with Kimberly Flynn.
Santiago follows the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.
He draws inspiration from other Ashtanga teachers such as Laruga Glaser, David Robson, Peter Sanson, Gregor Maehle, David Keil, Elena Figarola and many others. His main teacher is John Scott.
A certified Rolfer since 2006, Santiago brings a deep understanding of anatomy to his teaching.
After a successful 30-year career in the film and TV industry, he shifted gears and, in 2011, opened one of the first Ashtanga yoga schools in Barcelona.
He is also a photography enthusiast and web designer (this site and all the images on it are his work).
Santiago holds a degree in art history and has a deep love for languages. He speaks French, Italian, Swedish, Spanish, Catalan, and English fluently.
His greatest love remains his son, Darius.
